History:
Milan was first settled in 1831 by John Marvin.
First known as Farmersville, the name later changed to Tolanville and then to Woodward's Mills.
In 1836 it was renamed Milan, because the large number of grapes growing in the area reminded people of Milano, Italy.
Milan was incorporated as a village in 1885 and then later as a city in 1967.
